CrossFit is… Constantly varied, functional movements performed at high intensity, across broad time and modal domains. Functional movement is the stuff of life – squatting, jumping, pulling, pushing, lifting and throwing. We use lots of varied equipment and ways to train (aka “modal domains”) to get there, but YOU are always the machine!
So, yes, yoga is great for stretching and mobility – for restoring length and tension of tissue. We all know that. But what if you think it’s kind of boring? What if the studio is too quiet, they are banging gongs and lighting incense and you aren’t sure if that’s where you belong? The practice of yoga can help you find calm and physical restoration through the combination of breath and movement…truly, gongs and incense can be an awesome part of that experience, but what if you don’t have time/interest to go to a yoga studio? Coach Liz practices “yoga” as she’s doing CrossFit.
Holistic Living is a key element to help to embrace who you are–inside and out–over time. This is essential for an athlete not hitting peak or someone who has overcome significant life challenges. We expand our skills and remove mental barriers to success.
